Halmann Vella Hosts the Launch of the URNA Project
Halmann Vella hosted the launch of URNA, a unique project set to represent Malta at the prestigious London Design Biennale.
Hon. Minister for National Heritage, Arts, and Local Government Owen Bonnici praised URNA for its innovative focus on ecological sustainability and its celebration of Malta’s rich limestone heritage. Minister Bonnici also highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting local talent internationally.
Architect Andrew Borg Wirth, URNA’s curator, shared the project’s vision, describing it as a monumental design that rethinks rituals of bodily disposition through a blend of nature and cosmic reflection.
Halmann Vella Group CEO said “This year marks a significant milestone for Halmann Vella as we celebrate our 70th anniversary and we near the completion of a further €8m investment in our manufacturing facilities. Through our reconstituted stone product, which will be used for URNA, that utilises limestone waste to produce engineered stone, the Group continues to take initiatives in addressing sustainability and waste management challenges associated with the construction industry, reflecting our commitment to environmentally responsible solutions.”
Best of luck to the URNA team as they showcase Maltese talent on the global stage at the London Design Biennale!
