Halmann Vella supports the ALS Foundation
Halmann Vella employees, recently welcomed Bjorn Formosa founder of the ALS foundation Malta, at the company’s premises whereby he was presented with a donation by the Chairman, Martin Vella. Bjorn Formosa was diagnosed with ALS in 2015, and since then has dedicated himself to raise funds and increase awareness of this condition.
During the visit, Architect Hugh Vella and Director Mark Vella, took Bjorn on a tour around the factory, explaining the step by step process of how blocks of marble are turned into finished products, using machinery and human craftsmanship. Bjorn also witnessed the process by which traditional Maltese patterned tiles are made by hand. During the tour, Bjorn had the opportunity to meet and speak to a number of employees, who were all touched by his message of hope and his determination.
ALS is short for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The ALS Foundation Malta supports research about ALS whilst aiming to improve the quality of life of patients.
