“In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary”
This was our motto for this year’s Christmas gifts.
2020 will most likely be the year that personified darkness for many of us. For this reason, Halmann wanted to bring light into your homes for the festive season. Selecting from our vast collection of Terrazzo colours, Halmann designed and manufactured wall mounted light fittings. The lighting creates a soft glow whilst the terrazzo brings a colourful and playful element to the design.
Design: Selecting from last year’s most trending colours the team at Halmann Vella aimed to design a light fitting that was beautiful, elegant, and timeless. The simplicity of the design allows the material itself to stand out and be further enhanced by the effect of the illumination. The fixtures were packaged in recycled carton boxes with the message: “In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary”
Facts: Terrazzo is a building material that dates back to the 15th century. It is a mix of marble or granite aggregates surrounded with a cement binder. The applications of Terrazzo are endless – Halmann Vella has used terrazzo for internal and external flooring, internal and external wall cladding, countertops, tabletops, and decorative items. Halmann Vella manufactures cement-based architectural terrazzo blocks using a block casting plant. The casting process involves mixing, vibration, and vacuum to ensure a high-quality homogeneous mix. Following casting and the standard curing time, the blocks measuring 3m x 1.2m x 0.7m are ready for further processing. The blocks can be transformed into slabs or organic 3D elements.
Our team also created a mirror holder from a terrazzo base. This was a beautiful complement to the wall light fixtures. The motto for this product was; “There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it”
