Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat recently visited the Halmann Vella Factory in Lija, where a project to extend and upgrade the premises has recently been completed. He was accompanied by the economy minister, Dr Chris Cardona.

Halmann Vella’s Chairperson, Mr Martin Vella explained how the company invested circa Eur7 million following a Bond issue to build an extension to the existing factory, reorganise the manufacturing process as well as introduce new machinery. This development places Halmann Vella as one of the largest stone fabrication factories throughout Europe.

The importance which the Group has placed on innovation puts it in a position to maintain excellent quality standards in its product offering, whilst still be in a position to keep on growing, “The next step for the Halmann Vella Group is to increase our exports. We have already partnered with Vicalvi, a Paris and London based project contracting company as their sole supplier of natural stone. Following this collaboration, exports seem to be picking up slowly but surely. In fact, at the moment we are currently working on a project in Budapest. We look towards this new venture with optimism.”

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat expressed his satisfaction at seeing a business that started out as a small family business branch out to employ over 200 people. “Companies such as this, who move out of the comfort zone, invest and take risks help the economy to keep growing whilst creating more work opportunities.”

The Halmann Vella Group has also just published the financial results for the year 2017, where the company registered a pre-tax profit of over 6 million euros, with revenues surpassing 18 million Euros. The Group registered growths in all the sectors in which it operates from retail, to manufacturing, property development and letting as well as general contracting services.

For over 65 years, Halmann Vella has earned the trust and confidence of its clients through its focus on quality. In its primary area of business, the Company has long been known for sourcing the best quality, most luxurious surfacing materials when it comes both to natural as well as engineered stone, and providing an excellent service for installation and project management.

A momento was presented as a token to the Prime Minister.
