In the summer of 2002, the GLA will move into the specially designed GLA HQ at the More London development. The new building is to be called ‘City Hall’ and is to be officially opened by H.R.H. Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation – Kowloon Station in Hong Kong (Architects- Sir Norman Foster Partnership). Hal Mann’s brief was to design a terrazzo tile capable of taking over one million pairs of feet a day! This tile, which has high granite content, is now installed at the Hong Kong railway terminus. To comply with the wishes of the designers who wanted an open long-span design, the matching precast stair units were set into stainless steel frames.
